These helpful tips and tricks are suitable for any of our kits !
PRIMING: For the best results, we recommend priming your models while they are still attached to the sprue/supports using a spray primer. This method ensures even coverage, enhances fine details, and saves valuable time by allowing you to coat all the tools in one go. Allow the primer to fully dry before removing the models from their supports/sprue.
SUPPORT REMOVAL: When removing the supports from your 3D-printed models, eye protection is strongly recommended, as small pieces of supports/sprue can sometimes snap off unexpectedly. For the best results, we advise using small side cutters and/or tweezers to carefully detach each product from the sprue. To minimize breakages, always cut or grip as low as possible to the base of the sprue, carefully supporting the part you're removing as you work. Taking your time during this process is essential—think of it as assembling a traditional model kit, where patience and precision make all the difference. With careful handling, you’ll ensure each item is cleanly separated and ready for painting or placement in your scene.
SANDING: After removal from the supports, some light sanding may be needed to smooth out any remaining support marks. This should be done outside or in a well-ventilated area to avoid dust irritation. As with any sanding at home, we strongly recommend wearing a dust mask, even when working outdoors, to prevent inhalation of fine particles.
PAINTING: For greater control when painting, we attach the primed models to wooden lollipop sticks using either a tiny amount of super glue or black tack. This allows for precise brushwork without direct handling.
VARNISH: To prevent fingerprints and ensure long-lasting durability, finish with a matt varnish for a professional, realistic look.
